Daily life of a serf
Most of the day will be used
by me to manage the Lord’s land such as: ploughing the fields, digging ditches,
repairing fences and harvesting crops. If there are some working hours I have
to go to my Lord’s house to cook, clean and run tasks. And after I’ve done all
my jobs in my Lord’s land and house I will go to my land and grow crops and
fruits. Usually
Once or two times a week my
Lord will give me payment in the form of the crops that I grow in my Lord’s
land , such as : grains, honey, wheats, eggs or other produce. If its
harvesting season my family and me have to go to my Lord’s land to harvest all
the crops but for me those days are the best days because we will be given some crops by my Lord. In easters, I must
collect dozen of egg for my extra job. In christmasts, I must give a goose to
my Lord as a tax
Jobs
Every day I have t do a lot
of jobs. Every morning, I have to go to
my Lord’s land to grow some crops, repairing fences, and harvest. If there is
some working hours, I go to my Lord’s house to clean up his house and cook for
his family. After done with the household tasks, Then I need to go back in hurry to my Land to grow crops and
fruits to fed my family. Usually I also sue some clothes that already ordered
by my Lord and after I’m done I will give it to my Lord. Every Sunday I have to
take parts in Church ministry.
Rights of Mine
At first, I was hired in a
manor, I have right to be protected from other Lord so I can feel safe and
comfortable. Those are the responsibility of my Lord. Before I work as a serf
in my Lord’s farm land I will be given a piece of land to grow my own crops and harvest them and kept it at
home and consumed by my family including me. In my spare time, I can collect
dead woods from my Lord’s forest. Once or twice a week I will be given a
payment by my Lord in the form of crops.
Rules to follow
There are many rules to
follow`for me. I need to obey my Lord’s will and I have to pay taxes because
usually my Lord give me crops from his land and actually I have to pay him with
taxes. I also have to wear clothing for serfs and those are a blouse fastened
by a leather belt, a sheath for my knife that hang over my belt, an overcoat or
woolen mantle and large boots or shoes. I also need to fight when other Lords
wants to take over my Lord’s manor or land. I cannot hunt in my Lord’s land since my Lord already gave me a
piece of land.
How I Felt About People From Other Classes
I don’t feel jealous to
people that have higher class than me because I am grateful to what I’ve got,
after all I realized I only have low education the important thing is I will do
my best for every task given by my Lord .
Because what I do in my job will affect my family. But If I have opportunity to
have higher class I will take it because If I don’t take it I waste a very good
opportunity. If I do my best my Lord will trust me more and maybe give another
job so the welfare of family will increase.
